Meet the Teacher
Monique Swickla
Hello, my name is Monique Swickla and I am the owner and teacher at Little Monkeys Preschool and mother to two beautiful energetic children! I have been teaching and caring for children for 15 years and know that it is my passion. I began helping my girlfriend with her daycare when I became pregnant with my daughter and worked with her for 7 years until she had to shut her daycare down due to medical issues. I then opened my own at home daycare/preschool in 2012 as Little Monkeys Daycare and Preschool and it was a dream come true. After a schedule change forced me to close my daycare I missed teaching children, so I took the year to restructure my daycare into a preschool only and now can't wait to get the new school year started!
I have an associate degree in business and have continued education in early childhood education. I am constantly taking seminars, workshops and classes to keep up with the ever-changing field of early childhood education. When I'm not working or with my family, I volunteer in multiple classrooms at Buchanan Elementary weekly, working with small groups of children, on math and reading and having fun with crafts and creating. I love seeing that light go on in kids minds and being a part of helping kids find a love for learning.
